Carlo "Rob" Bernardino, MD, FACS
After fellowship, he worked as Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology at Emory University from 2003 to 2007. Before coming to Vantage Eye, he was Associate Professor of Ophthalmology, Residency Program Director, and the Director of the Oculoplastics Service at Yale University from 2007 to 2010. He was also voted 'Top-Doctor' for the New York Metro area for 2009 and 2010. His clinical practice of oculoplastics includes reconstructive and cosmetic surgery of the eyelids and orbit. He has special interests in eyelid and orbital tumors, tear drain (lacrimal) dysfunction, thyroid eye disease, and rehabilitation after loss of an eye. Dr. Bernardino serves as editor-in-chief of the Open Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Journal, is on the editorial board of Review of Ophthalmology and contributor to Medscape’s Viewpoints. He has authored multiple scientific papers and book chapters. He also serves as volunteer faculty for ORBIS, the flying eye hospital. Dr. Carlo "Rob" Bernardino joined Vantage Eye in 2010 bringing oculoplastics expertise to the Monterey area. He received his undergraduate degree at Lehigh University and medical degree at Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia. Dr. Bernardino completed residency at the prestigious Wills Eye Hospital in Philadelphia, where he served as chief resident, and a 2-year fellowship in oculoplastics, ocular oncology and ophthalmic pathology at Harvard's Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary.
