Retinal care at Vantage Eye Center is provided by Columbia trained Reza Iranmanesh, MD.
Dr Iranmanesh is trained in both medical and surgical retinal care. Common retinal conditions requiring surgical intervention include, retinal detachment, diabetic retinopathy/vitreous hemorrhage, macular disease (macular puckers and macular holes). Surgery is performed on an outpatient basis at Salinas Valley Memorial Hospital or the Community Hospital of the Monterey Peninsula (CHOMP). A particular area of expertise of Dr. Iranmanesh is macular degeneration care. Macular degeneration is a disease affecting the elderly, and is a leading cause of severe vision loss in that group. However, through early detection and treatment, vision can often be stabilized and preserved. We offer several technologies and services for detecting and treating macular degeneration including fluorescein angiography, optical coherence tomography (OCT), argon laser photocoagulation, and Avastin and Lucentis therapies. Avastin or Lucentis therapy, also known as anti-VEGF therapy, is the most modern treatment for the "wet", or most severe type of macular degeneration.
