Richard Kim, MD, joined Vantage Eye Center in 2003. After his undergraduate studies in Classics – Latin at Harvard University, Dr. Kim received his medical degree from the University of California at San Francisco. From there, he was selected for his residency at the prestigious Wills Eye Hospital in Philadelphia. During his training, Dr. Kim also gained experience performing cataract and glaucoma surgeries at the Mayo Clinic branch in Scottsdale, Arizona. He then received additional subspecialty training during a glaucoma fellowship at the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute in Miami with some of the world’s preeminent glaucoma specialists, performing advanced surgical techniques for the treatment of glaucoma.
At Vantage Eye Center, he has the latest technology for the diagnosis and treatment of glaucoma. As a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology, Dr. Kim has continued to maintain his credentials and keep up with the latest innovations in glaucoma diagnosis and treatment.
Dr. Kim has privileges at Salinas Valley Memorial Hospital, Community Hospital of the Monterey Peninsula, Vantage Surgery Center, and Monterey Peninsula Surgery Center.
Dr. Kim is one of two fellowship trained glaucoma eye surgeons at Vantage Eye Center that focused on vision restoration.
He is grateful for the activities the lifestyle of the Salinas-Monterey area offers, but also enjoys traveling throughout California (and maybe the world as his children grow older) with his family.
